General Store

Constructed in 1835 to supply the employees of Howell Works with food and other goods. The first floor sold general merchandise and contained a drug store and post office; the second floor sold furniture; the third floor was for bulk storage, and the basement stored meat and cheese.

The reason was not just convenience; the General Store was just about the only place that accepted the unique currency Allaire paid his workers.
