What is a Student Summit?
A summit is a meeting held in the online Blackboard classroom. These are recorded and often available for people from the public to attend. After the summit, the recording is archived and shared for those who wish to learn about the project later.

As a culmination to the project, classrooms are invited to schedule virtual presentations within Blackboard. These sessions typically run for about 45 - 50 minutes (per class). They provide an opportunity for students to talk about their work during the project, based on their team and topic. They also provide a virtual learning experience and real-time interaction with an international audience on a professional level. In other words, they flatten the walls of the classroom by inviting the world in and providing a platform for students to present and share their knowledge and to learn valuable digital citizenship lessons.

Each student shares for 60 - 90 seconds about their topic and the most important thing that they learned on the project in Blackboard while their student summit photograph is showing on the screen. The summit is recorded and made available via the project wiki.

Check all the details at NetGenEd Student Summit Information.

We will have just the Teacher Station logged into the Blackboard Room, so you don't need to pay attention to the info about logging in.

Next Stop: Excel

It is possible that you have finished up your work on the NetGenEd video AND your NetGenEd Reflection (possible, but doubtful!) and are ready to start on our next topic: Excel, but we are allowing others to finish up work on the NetGenEd video project, so we don't have a regular day that we can do a typical in-class introduction for both classes until Monday (or maybe even Tuesday; okay, now it is definitely Tuesday! (How's that for a run-on sentence, Ms. Koffler??)

Anyway, that leads us to trying something new.

To get us started, we will be using the tutorial located here:
Excel Tutorial
which was created by the Florida Gulf Coast University. The tutorial is based on Excel 2000, but the basics that it discusses will serve us well for the version we use at school and any different version you may have at home.
