SEPT 13, 2011--Students were asked to start an essay on this question: Support or oppose this "Should large schools be broken down to smaller ones in order to lessen violence and bullying?" Write a letter to the Board of Education on this controversial issue.

SEPT 20, 2011--Students must hand in typed (finished) copy of the bullying essay. Copy needs to be double-spaced and five paragraphs long. See question on page 30 of the HSPA WORKBOOK.

Globe Fearon Silver Level : Read the story entitled, "Black Boy" by Richard Wright pp. 485 - 490. Do UNDERSTAND THE SELECTION AND WRITE ABOUT THE SELECTION ON PAGE 492.
Students read "August Heat" in the Green level book, pages 151 to 156. They must answer the questions on page 156 UNDERSTAND THE SELECTION numbers 1 - 10 and WRITE ABOUT THE SELECTION. ALL questions must be answered in complete sentences and on a separate sheet of paper. Students need to understand the concepts of foreshadowing, cause and effect, and suspense.
