Students are working up to page 27 in the Against the Odds book. In addition to this, we are using the computers to find out what happened in Libya this week and what happened in New Zealand. Students can report on this information on their own. Write an essay on the events in Libya and/or New Zealand. Use Cnn.com for information or any news site.
Using the Internet to verify stories read in class. Today, students will google John Jay Carsey and Matthew Choyce and then they will compare the Internet version of the truth to that of their workbook.
Students must complete Against the Odds workbook up through page 11. They will be organizing facts, putting facts in sequence, drawing conclusions and judging the evidence. In addition, students will be graded for reading aloud to this teacher and discussing the content of these non-fictional stories. They will be asked to write three paragraphs comparing/contrasting the stories.
Class has selected McGraw Hill Contemporary's book "On the Edge AGAINST THE ODDS"
