In order to foster the health, safety and well-being of pupils, and to promote the achievement of high academic standards, all students are informed of the parameters and expectations of student conduct as outlined in the program's Student Code of Conduct, and the school's administrative responses to violations of law and district policy relating to Pupil Discipline. The Student Code of Conduct and Pupil Discipline is discussed with each student on their first day of school. Of particular importance is the program's Zero Tolerance for Violence policy, which, if violated, will result in immediate withdraw from the program and referral back to the sending home high school. This policy is emphasized upon admission to the program. Once the Student Code of Conduct is discussed, all students sign two copies of the program's Student Code of Conduct Agreement, one of which is kept on file at the school, the other is retained by the student.

In addition, the Monmouth County Vocational School District requires that polices and regulations relating to Pupil Discipline/Code of Conduct be made available to all members of our school community, including parents. If you have any questions about these policies or regulations, do not hesitate to contact the Principal directly.

Federal compulsory education laws mandate (1) state
governments are required to provide a free and appropriate public education for
all school aged children, and (2) children are required to attend. Attendance
under these provisions, as well as school district policy, includes not only attending school on a regular basis,
but also attending assigned classes
for the duration of the class period on days present.

To this end, CLASS Academy has established a zero tolerance
policy for students who do not attend the classes assigned to them for the
entire duration of the class period, or who have excessive unexcused absences
or truancy from school or class. Students are not be permitted to be out of their assigned
classrooms without documented permission from the classroom teacher. Further,
students who obtain permission to leave the classroom are required to return to
class within a reasonable amount of time, or disciplinary action will be taken.

The goal of this policy is not merely to establish punitive
measures for truancy, but also to increase the effectiveness of the educational
process, so all students can benefit from a more enriching school experience. Please speak to your child about the
school's increased enforcement of this truancy policy, which includes cutting
class or leaving school without permission at any time during the school day.
