On Thursday, May 31 the CLASS Academy students who have been accepted to Brookdale and taken the Accuplacer Exam will have the opportunity to fully register for September 2012. We will be taking the seniors to the Lincroft campus where they will meet with advisors, be able to register for classes, have their ID picture taken and be given lunch. There will be a short presentation about the college. Please see Ms. Kelley for the permission slip.
On Wednesday, March 28 at 8:15 I will be taking seniors to Brookdale Community College's Eastern Monmouth site to take the Accuplacer. This test is the entry exam for students to matriculate at BCC. In order to take the Accuplacer the senior must have previously applied to the school. Applications may be obtained from my office or the student may apply online at the Brookdale website.
Any questions please call or email me.
On Tuesdy, October 18, Andre Richburg, from Brookdale Community College will be at CLASS Academy to visit with the seniors. He will be here at 11:15 to explain the majors available at BCC, the application process and give a little information regarding financial aid. Any parent interested in joining us for this information session is welcomed.
Horace Mann wrote, "A human being is not attaining his full heights until he is educated." The students at CLASS Academy will hopefully learn throughout this year that education doesn't stop at the end of the school day or graduation, but should be a constant in their lives. We look forward to working with the students in assisting them to reach their goals and hopefully find the importance in learning.
In October Andre Richburg, our admissions counselor from Brookdale Community College, will be at CLASS Academy to speak with the seniors about what Brookdale can offer them . This will be the first step for those seniors who are choosing Brookdale for the next leg in their educational journey. Any senior who is contemplating attending other colleges, should begin the application process now. They need to see me for any assistance with SAT registration, obtaining the applications for the colleges and recommendations.
I will be working with the underclass population in helping them determine the possibility of attending a vocational program during the 2012-2013 school year. This will begin after the Winter Vacation with visits to different vocational buildings and the submission of an application for the program of their choice. There are many areas to choose from. These can be found on the MCVSD website under Share-Time.
This should be a school year of new experiences, challenges and knowledge. I look forward to working with each of the students and watching them mature and begin to reach their fullest heights.
Brookdale Community College's Office of Financial Aid will be hosting workshops to help any student planning to attend college complete their 2011-2012 financial aid form on-line. This is open to the entire community whether attending Brookdale or another college.
