Vocational Programs for CLASS Students
CLASS Academy students who are 2010 and 2011 graduates have the opportunity to attend a vocational education share time program. The students can chose one of 19 programs from the health, human services, graphic arts, construction and technology fields. Each of the programs would allow students to earn 10 credits for the vocational portion as well as 10 credits for math and science each year.Â
I will be speaking with the CLASS Academy students about the different programs. There will be field trips to each of the vocational buildings so that our students may meet the instructors to ask questions and see the what a typical day looks like for a vocational student.
In the beginning of January I will be giving the students interested in a vocational program an application. These applications must be completed and returned to me by February 13, 2009. A committee at the MCVSD Main Office will review each student's application to determine the possibility of acceptance. The committee considers the courses that have been taken, grades received and absences. By June 1 a letter will be sent home regarding the student's status.Â
This is a unique opportunity for students. After completing these programs a student would be able to get hired in their field of expertise or go on to college to further their education.
