It has come to the attention of the Monmouth County Vocational Board of Education that information is circulating within the school district with respect to contract negotiations between the Board and the M.C.V.E.A.

Apparently it has been reported that the Board has not made an offer to the teacher's association with respect to settling the contract that expires on June 30, 2014.

In order to correct that misinformation, the Board would like the public to be aware that on April 1, 2014, at a negotiating session attended by the M.C.V.E.A. Bargaining Committee and the Board's representatives, the Board made a comprehensive offer to the Association, the monetary component of which exceeded 6.50% over the term of a three year agreement. The county average is 2.5% or less per year.

While the parties have not reached final agreement as to a new contract, the Board believes that negotiations are progressing towards a fair settlement and trust that staff will continue to meet their professional responsibilities.

While both parties mutually agreed to file for impasse, the Board is willing to continue negotiations prior to the start of mediation with board representation at the table.
