Yailene Sanchez has been a student at CLASS Academy for the past two years. She has been an active participant in extra-curricular activities at CLASS Academy. This year she was elected president of the student council.
Yailene was selected to represent CLASS Academy on the 2019-2020 Central Jersey Consortium For Excellence and Equity at Monmouth University. There she worked on social justice issues with students and educators from across central New Jersey.
At Class Academy Yailene has demonstrated leadership skills through the Welcoming Committee, Student Council and the Broadcasting Club. She is a contributor to the live morning announcements, and has spoken at the Monmouth County Guidance Counselor’s meeting. Yailene collected items for the Lunch Break holiday food drive, and volunteered at the Lunch Break facility in Red Bank.
Yailene has been working toward her dental assistant certificate through Monmouth County Vocational School district’s shared time dental program in Hazlet. Yailene was awarded an internship at Shore Dental Arts, P.A. this spring.
Yailene has been working at Dunkin’ Donuts since June of 2019. She continues to work there in an essential worker role while completing her classes remotely.
Yailene Sanchez’ career goal is to become a certified dental hygienist in a pediatric dental practice. She loves children!
Yailene is grateful to her siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, her teachers, Mrs. Kelley, Dr. Christopher and especially her parents for providing her with structure, support, and guidance. She feels that she would not be where she is today without them.
It is a pleasure to present Yailene Sanchez as CLASS Academy’s representative for the Dr. McAndrew Student Achiever Award.
