High School Program Description

The Nursing Assistant/Dietary Aide program is a two-year HIGH SCHOOL program. The program is unique, in that, the classroom is  work-based after the first three months each year. This concept develops work-place readiness skills, professional behavior, and provides immediate access to various jobs upon graduation. Students will have clinical experience in the nursing and dietary departments in the long-term care facility/nursing home.

Important Information

Medical Requirement: It is MANDATORY that students complete a physical, PPD and blood work by the first week of school. Specific information is mailed home in the summer. Guidelines are strictly followed.

Professional Attire: Scrubs and white sneakers are worn by all students to clinical. Specific color of scrubs will be reviewed the first week of school. No fake nails, hair is worn up and away from face. Stud earrings and a watch are acceptable.

Clinical: Student is directly involved in the personal care of a resident, which includes bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and transferring, in preparation for nursing assistant certification.

Structured Learning/ Internships

All students are provided the opportunity to earn high school credits for on-the-job training. The Workplace Readiness curriculum includes technical skill preparation, employability skills, safety and applied academics related to the selected technical area of study. Workplace mentors from the employer and the school, work together to provide an individualized learning experience for each student enrolled.
