High School Program Description

The Patient Care/Medical Assisting program is a two-year HIGH SCHOOL program.  The program is unique, in that, the classroom is work-based after the first two months each year.  This concept develops work-place readiness skills, professional behavior, and provides immediate access to various jobs upon graduation.  Students will have clinical experience in the nursing department in a long-term care facility/nursing home, assisted living facility and in a hospital.

Important Information:

Medical Requirement: It is MANDATORY that students complete a physical, PPD and blood work by the first week of school.  Specific information is mailed home in the summer.  Guidelines are strictly followed.

Professional Attire: Scrubs and white sneakers are worn by all students to clinical. Specific color of scrubs will be reviewed the first week of school.  No fake nails, hair is worn up and away from face.  Stud earrings and a watch are acceptable.

Clinical: Student is directly involved in the personal care of a resident, which includes bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and transferring, in preparation for nursing assistant certification.
