Calculate GPA and Earned Credits

Step 1 ­ Consolidate Bins

  1. In the Edit menu select Bin(s) to View/Edit...
  2. Select Bins 1 through 6 (all black except Bin 7)
  3. Click OK
  4. Select all Teachers and only Classes used for grading
  5. Select all students (or specified individual students)
  6. Select Consolidate Bins (Marks)
  7. Select Consolidate Bins into Bin 7: Final Average
  8. Click on Bins to be included in calculation (normally bins 1 throgh 6)
  9. Make sure the bin weights are correct. Classes with 4 marking periods, mid term and final are shown below.
    • Bin 1 ­ 2.00 (MP 1)
    • Bin 2 ­ 2.00 (MP 2)
    • Bin 3 ­ 1.00 (Mid Term)
    • Bin 4 ­ 2.00 (MP 3)
    • Bin 5 ­ 2.00 (MP 4)
    • Bin 6 ­ 1.00 (Final Exam)
  10. Check flags to copy across: P. Credits, Used in GPA, Used In E. Credits and Is Final Mark
  11. Click OK
  12. Select Yes to dialog about clearing target bin (Bin 7)

Step 2 ­ Re-calculate Class Average

  1. In the Edit menu select Bin(s) to View/Edit...
  2. Select Bin 7 (all white except Bin 7)
  3. Click OK
  4. Select Recalculate Class Averages... form the Marks menu
  5. Click Yes to the sort question (if asked)
  6. Select Bin 7 (only the box with 7 in it should be black)
  7. Click OK
  8. Click Yes to the sort question (if asked)

Step 3 ­ Calculate the GPA

  1. In the Edit menu select Bin(s) to View/Edit...
  2. Select Bin 7 (all white except Bin 7)
  3. Click OK
  4. Select all classes or just the required classes (should still be selected from Step 1)
  5. Select Clear/Set Bin Information (Edit)
  6. Set Clear/Set: All Selected Classes box to: Clear/Set "For All"
  7. Set Class Honors Status box to: No Change
  8. In the Select Bin(s) box, check only Bin 7
  9. In the Set as per Course Details box, check:
    • Potential Credits, Use in E. Credits, Final Mark Flag, Use in GPA
  10. Do Not check any items in the Clear box
  11. Click OK to run. (This may take several minutes)
  12. Return Bin(s) to View/Edit... to Bins 1 through 7 selected (Unless going to Step 4)

Step 4 ­ Calculate the Credits Earned (ONLY FOR MARKING PERIOD 4)

  1. In the Edit menu select Bin(s) to View/Edit...
  2. Select Bin 7 (all white except Bin 7)
  3. Click OK
  4. Select all classes
  5. Select all students or specific student(s)
  6. Select Recalc Bins... from the Marks menu
  7. Click on Bin 7 (no other box checked)
  8. Click OK
  9. Return Bin(s) to View/Edit... to Bins 1 through 7 selected

 

Note:
The GPA and Earned Credits for a given student can be viewed, after calculation, by double clicking on that student
Then, click on the Calculation box.
If the GPA or Earned Credits do not calculate, check preference settings by clicking below.
