PowerTeacher TechNote:

Creating a Seating Chart using your Current Class Roster

"One-Click" seating charts are not available in PowerSchool at this time. However, you can easily generate a seating chart using a combination of PowerTeacher Gradebook, Excel and PowerPoint:

1. Launch PowerTeacher Gradebook.
2. Select a Class from your class list (upper left).
3. Click the Reports tab at the top of your Gradebook screen.
4. Scroll down to select the Student Roster report.
5. Make the following selections on the Student Roster report:

1. Output Type: Export CSV
2. Section: Selected Class
3. Students: Enrolled Class
4. Student Info: Student Name
5. Sort: Student Last Name

6. Click Run Report.
7. Click Open Report and an Excel spreadsheet will open.
8. You can now copy & paste in the names of students into one of the example seating chart templates (PowerPoint format). You may need to adjust the text size in PowerPoint to squeeze in longer names.

9. When done, quit Excel.
10. Back in PowerPoint, save your seating chart as a copy with a descriptive name, such as section1mondaychart.ppt for easy re-use or editing.
