Licensed Practical Nursing

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) serve a vital role in healthcare, providing fundamental patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or doctor. They work in a variety of settings, including long-term care facilities, hospitals, physician offices, home healthcare services, rehabilitation centers, and educational institutions. LPNs enjoy quick entry into healthcare and earn a medium salary of more than $62,000 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Monmouth County Vocational School District offers a 10-month course that prepares graduates to meet the requirements for licensure in New Jersey. The program is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and approved by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing, New Jersey Department of Education, and Council on Occupational Education.

Academic Program Phases:

Phase I – Classroom & Clinical

 Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, Personal & Community Health,              Pharmacology, Growth & Development, Personal & Professional Relationships,        Fundamentals of Nursing, Vocational Aspects

Phase II – Clinical & Classroom:
Medical/Surgical Nursing I & II

Phase III – Clinical & Classroom:
 Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Psychiatric Nursing

 Course Dates/Class Schedule:

The course begins in September 2026 and concludes in July 2027. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location:

Classes are held at the MCVSD Neptune Annex, 105 Neptune Boulevard, Neptune City, NJ, which is conveniently located near routes 35 and 18. Clinical locations vary.

Faculty/Instructors:

The faculty in the LPN program have decades of industry experience as floor nurses in hospitals and local nursing homes. They have master's-level education and have published articles in various nursing journals.

Financial Aid:
