Hazlet, N.J.--Students in the Dental Assisting Program at the Monmouth County Vocational School District Hazlet Campus will receive comprehensive preparation for licensure at no personal cost thanks to a grant from the Delta Dental Foundation.

The Delta Dental Foundation’s SMILE Workforce Initiative Grant will pay for nearly $2,000 in review courses, practice tests, exam fees and membership fees which will help remove financial barriers for students and equip them with the tools and credentials needed to enter the dental workforce with confidence and competence.

“This grant has been a game-changer,” said Theresa Lennon, Director of the Dental Assistant Program at MCVSD. “Our students now have a real head start in their careers, with access to the professional development and licensure exams that are critical for their success in the field.”

Each student will receive the following resources and support through the grant:

  • American Dental Assistants Association Student Membership – $45.00

  • Dale Foundation Infection Control Examination Review Course – $130.00

  • Dale Foundation Anatomy, Morphology and Physiology Examination Review Course – $130.00

  • Infection Control Exam (ICE) Practice Test – $39.00

  • Anatomy, Morphology and Physiology (AMP) Practice Test – $39.00

  • Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) ICE Exam Fee – $270.00

  • DANB AMP Exam Fee – $245.00

  • Dental Radiology Course Tuition and DANB Radiation Health and Safety Exam Fee – $1,025.00

“The Dental Assisting Program at MCVSD continues to prioritize equity, opportunity and excellence—values made even more attainable through this generous grant funding,” Lennon said.

MCVSD operates six full-time Career Academies including the Academy of Allied Health and Science, Academy of Law and Public Safety, Biotechnology High School, Communications High School, High Technology High School and Marine Academy of Science and Technology.
